Brazil, Sao Paulo: Sabesp to invest US$45mn to provide basic services in marginal communities

Sabesp, the Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo, and the São Paulo city government will provide water and sanitation services to 226,000 people in informal settlements in a 72mn-real (US$45mn) project. After 20 years, the government is prepared to recognize the areas as permanent and offer basic services to the inhabitants.

Works include the construction of water supply and sewage collection infrastructure, as well as providing household connections.
